New warehouse and logistics space directly near Cologne

The city of Wesseling borders directly on Cologne and is an important industrial location. The medium-sized city is home to chemical plants and is of great importance for the global petrochemical industry. Wesseling has a very large percentage of commercial space in Cologne. The town is excellently connected to the German motorway network as well as to rail and local public transport, including ferry connections across the Rhine.

Facilities and Quality

Ca. 18,000 sqm of floor space (completion end of 2016) were planned for construction, as well as 10,000 additional sqm of warehouse space on a total real estate of 54,700 sqm, divisible and starting at rental units of 1,300 sqm. Warehouse height was 10 to 13.5 m, storage height 9 m. Floor loading capacity of the warehouse was 7.5 t/sqm and 750 kg/sqm on the gallery level. Additionally, we provided a 7–12 m deep gallery level for storage and/or services areas or office spaces, gradual artificial light in the warehouse, a modern sprinkler system (VDS), and, upon request, ESFR, too. Unloading was designed with flexibility in mind, offering a dock leveler and ground-level gates, as well as optional WGK-3 storage or cold storage. We consistently observed ecological and operationally cost-effective construction methods, as well as sufficient parking spaces in accordance with parking regulations. Construction took place in accordance with the DGNB gold standard (German Sustainable Building Council). The unloading gate possibilities were flexibly equipped with a dock leveller and gates at ground level. On customer request, we optionally installed a WGK-3 warehouse or a cold store.
